Short: Star Trek Database, Version 2.1
Uploader: osterburg@fh-brandenburg.de (Stefan Osterburg)
Author: osterburg@fh-brandenburg.de (Stefan Osterburg)
Type: biz/dbase
Replaces: biz/dbase/Trekkie.*
Version: 2.1
Trekkie is a database, that offers the possibility to manage all the
Star Trek episodes.
Apart from collecting the usual data such as Episodetitle, -number, Stardate
and so on, it facilitates to build a kind of "Who is Who" by managing
the "Maker"-information.
Moreover there is a - admittedly simple - video database included.
The program requires Kickstart/Workbench 3.0.
A complete datafile may easily make the program to require 2MB and more
of RAM.
Running it on a 68000 machine would probably have been a strain
on nerves an coffee consum, that's why it requires at least an 68020
processor.

Acknolegements:
Thanks to
- my brother Matthias for designing the trekkie.font.
- Philip Reynten Beta-Testing my new Release
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The program should hopefully be self-explaining, however here are some
important things:
- If you intend to use the supplied trekkie.font (also see below under
tooltypes) you should first copy the it to your FONTS: directory.
- The Preferences are stored in the icon's tooltypes:
SCREEN
------
Defines the Screenmode. No matter how small the selected screen is,
Trekkie opens a screen of at least 640x410 pixels. If the tooltype is
not specified the program uses an EURO72 Productivity Screen.
Valid values are:
Euro72 : opens a Euro 72 Productivity Screen
VGA : opens a Multiscan Productivity Screen
PAL : opens a PAL Interlace Screen
PAL NONLACE : opens a Pal HighRes (Autoscroll) Screen
NTSC : opens a NTSC Interlace Screen
NTSC NONLACE : opens a NTSC HighRes (Autoscroll) Screen
DBLPAL : opens a DBLPAL flickerfree Screen
DBLNTSC : opens a DBLNTSC flickerfree Screen
$modeID : for modeID put the hexadecimal ID of any screenmode.
DATA
----
Specifies filename and path, of the data file loaded on startup.
VIEW
----
Specifies path, filename and possible parameters of the external picture
view program.
XEN
---
If specified the program uses the XEN.font instead of the trekkie.font
as non-proportional font. If you put this tooltype as XEN=9 the size
9 of XEN.font is used otherwise size 8.
- The value for Rating can range from 0 to 99. Personally I use a range
of 1 (extremely bad) to 18 (extremely good). That way the 0 remains
reserved for entries, that have not yet been rated.
- The settings for Selection-, Sort- and Listpattern can be saved.
If default.??? is specified as filename (default.sel for selection
pattern, default.srt for sort pattern, default.msk for list pattern)
the corresponding settings are loaded as default on startup.
Specifying f1.???, f2.???, f3.??? and so on makes it possible
to easily load these settings by pressing the corresponding
F-key in list- or editmode.
All these settings can be saved at once. The appropriate name
extensions are automatically added. To save the current settings
as default you just have to enter "default" as filename.
Please send Bugreports, Suggestions and the like to the forementioned
address.
